Star Stories: (Grades 1 & 2 • Planetarium • 60 minutes) Using a 3-D model, we will show how the Sun, Earth, and Moon are related in space. The Sun is a star that provides light and heat to the Earth and Moon. As the Earth and Moon in the model move, students will learn why we have days, months and years. Then, we'll look at the stars in the night sky (on the planetarium dome) and compare them to our sun. As we "connect the dots" to make familiar constellations, students will enjoy hearing stories about these star patterns. They will also enjoy watching a meteor shower as they learn the difference between stars and "shooting stars" or meteors.
