Carolina Association of Planetarium Educators (CAPE)

2011 Annual Conference

The 7th annual CAPE conference will be held August 22-23, 2011, at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center's (RPSEC) DuPont Planetarium on the campus of the University of South Carolina Aiken in Aiken, SC.

Darlene Smalley and Gary Senn will be your hosts for this short conference. We hope to welcome many of you to our lovely city to share ideas, shows and encouragement. Our planetarium's claim to fame is that it is the only known camera obscura that shines on the inside of a planetarium dome! There will be plenty of dome time and night sky viewing in our observatory.

Lodging and a home-cooked breakfast will be available at the elegant Carriage House Inn only three miles from the planetarium in historic downtown Aiken at special university rates. If you come early or stay late, you can hike or ride on some of the 65 miles of trails in nearby Hitchcock Woods: http://www.hitchcockwoods.org/.

Go to http://www.aikencarriagehouse.com/ for info on the Inn and to http://rpsec.usca.edu/ for info on the RPSEC.

For more information, please contact Darlene Smalley, darlenes@usca.edu or 803-641-2842
