The Transit of Venus is a rare event when the planet Venus crosses in front of or "transits" the Sun. As always, do not look directly at the Sun to view this event. Safe viewing of the transit will be available at the RPSEC. The transit will begin at 6:04 p.m. on June 5, 2012. The DuPont Planetarium will offer a Transit of Venus planetarium show at 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. and hands-on activities related to the transit at the same time.
