TEACHERS PROVIDE SUMMER WORKSHOPS AND INSTITUTES
AS PART OF THEIR CURRICULUM LEADERSHIP II EXPERIENCE
As part of their second Curriculum Leadership Institute (CLI II) experience, fourteen teachers in the CSRA HUB provided valuable inservice opportunities this past summer for educators in Aiken, Allendale, Barnwell and Edgefield Counties. These teachers are part of a cadre of teachers statewide who participated in South Carolina’s first CLIs during the summer of 1994. The inservice workshops were presented by teams of three or four CLI II teachers from all three levels of mathematics and science instruction.
The workshops and inservices focused on exchanging ideas of effective teaching strategies, and methods of finding a variety of excellent mathematics and science resource materials. Emphasis was placed on educating teachers in the use of hands-on, engaging activities in the classroom that follow state and national standards.
Participating in providing the summer institutes were: Jonna Adcox and Amy Denty, Kelly Edwards Elementary; Emily Allen, Allendale Fairfax High; Dr. Richard Borst, Silver Bluff High; Michelle Cain, Merriwether Middle; Bridget Coleman, New Ellenton Middle; Melissa Franzone and Patricia Tarrant, North Augusta Elementary; Cynthia Holder, Busbee Elementary; Gale Kumula, AL Corbett Middle; Karey Santos, Millbrook Elementary; Barbara Sproull, South Aiken High; Laurie Swift, JD Lever Elementary; and Henrietta Youmans, Allendale Elementary. Keep your eyes peeled for more offers by these talented people.
