Course Description: The content of this course embodies topics which are necessary for the teaching and understanding of mathematics in upper elementary and middle school mathematics and pre-algebra courses. Participants will learn to teach fundamental concepts through hands-on experiences with a variety of concrete materials. Methods of integrating the NCTM Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics and the NCTM Professional Teaching Standards in the middle school curriculum will be emphasized.
