Bob Peeler, Lieutenant Governor of South
Carolina was in town Tuesday to meet with area leaders and learn about the problems
facing Aiken and the state in this area. As part of his tour at the science
center, he watched a show at the centerÕs planetarium, used computer stations
for an Internet search and, of course, enjoyed a hands-on wildlife exhibit.
The lieutenant governor also said there might be hope for some more money to expand programs, such as the Ruth Patrick Science Center. "It's possible," he said. "When you get to see it firsthand, what a difference it makes. When you read all the reports and the printed materials, it helps to get out and see what weÕre dealing with." courtesy of the Augusta Chronicle - July 31, 1996
