$3.4 Million Available for
Science Projects in Aiken
Rep. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., announced a $3.4 million grant to expand the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center and Hydrogen Bus Demonstration Project. The money will come from the Department of Energy Savannah River Operations Office. DOE is providing $2 million, half of the estimated cost, for the Hydrogen Bus project. USC Aiken will receive $1.4 million, one-third of the estimated costs, for the expansion of the education center.
''I am particularly pleased with the timing of the grant to assist in the expansion of the Hydrogen Bus Demonstration Project,'' Rep. Graham said. ''Hydrogen holds tremendous promise as a clean, inexhaustible replacement for current fossil fuels such as oil and gas.'' He added, ''The project is critical to the success of new missions at SRS and works to establish it as the leading expert in hydrogen technology.''
