Last school year, the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center sponsored, co-sponsored, or participated in 478 events over the past year involving participation/visits by 21,676 teachers, students and the general public. The highlights of 1992-93 were the hiring of Dr. Gary Senn as the Technologies Director, and the overwhelming response of teachers who brought their students to the Center for the various programs offered. Thirteen programs were offered to teachers at little or no charge for graduate credit or recertification. Twenty-three different student programs involving hands-on science were offered to K-12 students. Other highlights of the year include Science Education Enrichment Day (SEED), the CSRA Science and Engineering Fair, and the CSRA Science Forum. The Center received $504,623 in grants for the 1992-93 fiscal year from the National Science Foundation, Department of Energy, South Carolina Universities Research and Education Foundation, Aiken County Public Schools, and Westinghouse.
