Student Programs have been fantastic and busy this year! We have had some fabulous students, parents, and teachers visit our Center. Our success as a Science Education Center is not only due to our ability to provide these programs, but to the large number of people who want to visit our Center and the willingness of teachers to accept a limit in the number of visits per class. Because of fair-minded teachers, we have been able to serve many different students from across the CSRA. As a result of such high demand, the RPSEC expanded its program schedule from 9 programs a week to 15 programs a week. An update on the number of students visiting the RPSEC thus far is as follows:

  • More than 1500 students (over 50 classes) took part in the Hitchcock Woods Ecohike program (our most requested program). Since August, more than 600 students (over 13 classes) took part in the Electricity program.
  • More than 300 students have attended each of the following programs: Popular Polling:Real Data, Science Fair Flair, and Sound-sational.
The expected yearly figures are as follows:
  • More than 2,200 (over 80 classes) students are expected to attend Ecohikes.
  • More than 1,500 (over 45 classes) students are expected to attend Those Amazing Insects.
  • More than 1,300 students (over 40 classes) are expected to attend Animals with Backbones.
  • More than 1,100 students (over 25 classes) are expected to attend Science Fair Flair.
  • More than 12,000 students are expected to visit the RPSEC during the 94-95 school year.

Next year, we plan to expand the number and variety of programs we offer to include Edible Optics, Energy Dilemmas, Gems and Minerals, and Periodic Table Introduction and Activities. Thanks to your support, our year has been busy - and we like it that way! If you haven't visited the RPSEC, we hope to see you soon.
