AC2E Graphics Calculator Course

During the first week of August, several teachers in the CSRA HUB region and Richmond County participated in a TI-82 Graphics Calculator course modeled after the Ohio State A CE Summer Institute. The tuition free institute was an intensive one-week course with follow-up designed to give teachers training in the use of calculator based-visualizations to enhance the teaching and learning of appropriate topics such as discrete mathematics and statistics. Through the use of technology, new instructional approaches were modeled in the course. These approaches allow teachers and students to become active partners in exciting, rewarding, enjoyable, and intensive educational experiences.

The course was taught by Dr. Stephen King, Professor of Mathematics at USC-Aiken and assisted by Emily Allen, Mathematics Teacher, Allendale High School and Gloria Allen, Mathematics Specialist, CSRA HUB. Upon successful completion of course requirements, the teachers will receive a free TI-82 graphics calculator and three hours of graduate credit. For more information on future Graphics Calculator Course offerings, please call Gloria Allen at 648-6853, Ext. 3592.
