River Company and the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center’s Traveling
Science and Mathematics Demonstrations Program are calling for nominations for
the Traveling Science and Mathematics Demonstrations Program Outstanding S.T.R.A.N.D.
Volunteer Award. This award is given to a STRAND volunteer who has done an outstanding
job in promoting and supporting high quality science and mathematics education
for students and teachers. The recipient of the award will be recognized at
the annual Volunteer Appreciation Banquet in September.
Eligibility: STRAND Volunteers who volunteered their time during
the 2003-2004 school year are eligible for the award.
Nomination Procedure: A colleague, teacher, principal, parent,
district administrator, or TSMDP staff can nominate eligible candidates.
Include a letter of nomination, which states the reasons this volunteer should
be recognized for his or her work in the schools.
~Was there a volunteer who did an outstanding job of sparking the interests
of your students?
~Was there a volunteer who went above and beyond the call of duty?
~Was there a volunteer who made your job a bit easier?
~Was there a volunteer on whom you could always count?

Nomination Deadline: Letters of Nomination should be postmarked by August 24,
2004 and sent to:
