National Astronomy Day

Earth and Sky Night

Featuring the 40th Anniversary of Apollo 13

April 24, 2010

Come join us at the Ruth Patrick Science Center (RPSEC) at USC Aiken for a fun filled evening as we celebrate Earth and Sky Night . Events include the planetarium show To the Moon and Beyond, hands-on activites, night-sky viewing, even viewings through the Bechtel Telescope. Earth and Sky Night is proudly sponsored by the Astronomy Club of Augusta, USC Aiken, Ruth Patrick Science Education Center and DuPont Planetarium .

To the Moon and Beyond will feature the past, present, and future of lunar exploration and will celebrate the unforgettable Apollo 13 mission that took place 40 years ago. Learn the context for Jack Swigert’s famous quote,“Houston, we’ve had a problem here,” and discover why this mission was later termed a “successful failure.”
