Savannah River Area Mathematics and Science Regional Center
March 12, 2005
It is with pleasure that we announce the eighth annual Instructional Fair in Mathematics, Science, Reading/Language Arts, and Technology to be held at USC Aiken on March 12, 2005 from 8:00a.m.- 2:00 p.m. Registration will be from 7:30-8:30a.m. in the Business and Education Building at USC Aiken. The theme for this year's conference is "Empowering Teachers to Promote Educational Excellence for All Children."
This year, the Instructional Fair will include opportunities for teachers to participate in either a four-hour extended session with follow-up in the spring or three fifty-minute focus sessions. Descriptions of the four-hour sessions will be presented by State Department Staff. As in the past, local teachers and professors are invited to submit proposals for the fifty-minute sessions. Specific goals are to provide opportunities for K-12 teachers to participate in effective statewide educational initiatives and to share successful classroom strategies designed to improve student achievement.
In past years, several districts have agreed to pay a $50 stipend for teacher participants and a $75 stipend for teachers who present sessions. Our office will coordinate registrations and provide verification of each teacher's attendance and participation to their local district office. Teachers are asked to contact their local district office to determine stipend eligibility. We ask that you please encourage as many teachers as possible to participate and to register early.
Forms Deadline: March 4, 2005.
Presenter Forms Deadline: February 28, 2005.
You may register on-site on Saturday, March 12, 2005 for $25.00.
Again, thank you for your assistance in providing what has proven to be an effective professional development opportunity for K-12 teachers and administrators. Please feel free to call our office if you have nay questions or suggestions. We look forward to the participation of teachers from your school at this year's Instructional Fair on March 12, 2005.
