Timeline for the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center’s Youth Art Competition and Exhibit

The RPSEC announces a call for entries. February 5, 2009
All artwork and required entry forms must be delivered to the RPSEC by the deadline (Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM– 4:30 PM or Saturdays, 7:00 – 9:00 PM ). DEADLINE: Thursday, March 19, 2009
4:30 PM
The art exhibit opens to the public.
The 2009 International Year of Astronomy event at the RPSEC includes public planetarium shows at 4:00, 5:00, 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 PM. After dark, the observatory opens and telescopes are set up on the lawn.
Saturday, April 4, 2009
(Exhibit unveiled at 6:30 PM)
All artwork submitted by K-12 students for the 2009 International Year of Astronomy Youth Art Competition is on display at the RPSEC and open to the public during regular hours. The Art Judging Panel convenes and determines awards. April 4, 2009 through May 2, 2009
The winners are announced.
The RPSEC’s Family Earth and Sky Night includes public planetarium shows at 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, and 10:00 PM as well as free hands-on science activities for children from 7:00 - 9:30 PM. Live animals, including snakes, turtles, alligators, and the barred owl will be on display. After dark, the observatory opens and telescopes are set up on the lawn. The Galaxy Gals will make a special appearance in costume!

All artwork is picked up at the RPSEC. News releases with names of the winners, their teachers and schools are provided to the local media. May 4, 2009 through June 4, 2009
