Hi! My name is Tasha Gregory, and I teach second grade at J.D. Lever. I have nineteen students in my classroom. The lesson is entitled "Measure It". This lesson will enable the students to measure with nonstandard units of measure and standard units of measure.
The students will use small paper clips to measure items in their desk. They will measure crayons, journals, books, and bottles of glue. We will compare the number of paper clips to measure each object.
The students will measure using mini M&Ms. I will give them a heart to measure using the mini M&ms. After we measure the hearts, then we will eat the M&Ms.
We will use rulers to measure objects in the classroom. We will review measuring with the paper clips and the M&Ms. The students will use rulers to measure objects in the classroom. They will compare the number of centimeters and the number of inches to measure objects in the classroom.
