Overview of Benefits
My name is Carla Hayes, and I am the Benefits Administrator for USC Aiken,
and I have created this website as a tool for new, current and prospective
employees here at USC Aiken. If you have any suggestions or comments

USCA employees are covered under the State of South Carolina, and insured
by Blue Cross/Blue Shield. Services have to be medically necessary
to be covered under the health insurance.
If you live in the Aiken/Augusta area, you have three options for health
insurance coverage: the Standard State Health Plan, the Economy State
Health Plan, or the Companion HMO.
Those living in the Columbia area will have additional options.
Dental insurance is offered at no cost to employees who have employee only
coverage. Family coverage is available at a small rate.
If you need extensive dental work, we also offer the dental plus plan.
Vision Care is a discount program. If you go to a participating vision
care provider, you will be charged $50 for an eye exam, and you will receive
a 20% discount on all eyewear, except disposable contacts.
Long Term Disability
Employees are automatically enrolled in the Basic Long Term Disability
Insurance when they sign up for one of the health plans.
Supplemental Long Term Disability (SLTD) is offered at an additional
charge. SLTD gives added protection to your income if you become
disabled and unable to work.
The University offers three different types of Life Insurance. We
offer the State Optional Life Insurance, Prudential Life Insurance and
Colonial Life Insurance.
Long Term Care Insurance
Long Term Care Insurance is offered to employees, spouses, and even parents
and in-laws. Aetna underwrites our policy. To apply for LTC,
you have to be unable to perform 2 out of the 5 daily living functions
(eating, dressing, mobility, etc.)
Home Owners & Auto Insurance
Travelers Insurance offers University employee a discout on their home
owners and auto insurance. They will give a free estimate over the
