My name is Romona Nora. I home school an eleven-year-old student. We are presently working on a Black history project. After beginning the project, I realized how little I knew about the activity of this escape system in South Carolina. This lesson is an attempt to provide her and others with information about how some South Carolina slaves were able to escape via the Underground Railroad. Hopefully, the reader will be able to identify secret symbols used in the state. In addition, a brief description is given of groups or individuals that operated the Underground Railroad.
