RPSEC Animal Care - Student Assistant Application

Position: Animal Care Worker
6-8 hours per week (including rotational weekends and special events)
$7.25 an hour

Main responsibilities will include daily animal caretaking (feedings, handling), aquarium maintenance, and cage cleanings.  Other tasks will include general cleaning of animal care room, organizing supplies when needed as well as student programs support.  MUST be willing to handle snakes, turtles, owls, alligators, lizards, frogs & toads, salamanders and insects.  MUST be reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
                                       
Additionally, this person will be required to work a rotational Saturday schedule, which may include running the Science Store.  Animal Care responsibilities will be low maintenance on Saturdays (30 min.-1hour). Store responsibilities include opening and closing the store, operating a cash register, assisting customers, restocking and organizing merchandise, and taking planetarium reservations over the telephone (6pm-10pm). 

 

RPSEC Office - Student Assistant Application

Position: RPSEC Office Assistant
8-10 hours per week (includes occasional evenings/weekends)
$7.25 per hour

Responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering the telephone, and clerical tasks such as data entry. Good communication skills, computer skills, and professional attire are required. Must be reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and a self-starter. Experience with web pages and databases are helpful.
                                       
Additionally, this person may be trained and required to work a rotational Saturday schedule, which will include running the Science Store. Store responsibilities include opening and closing the store, operating a cash register, assisting customers, restocking and organizing merchandise, and taking planetarium reservations over the telephone (6pm-10:30pm). 

RPSEC Professional Learning - Student Assistant Application

Position: Professional Learning Office Assistant
10-12 hours per week (including occasional weekends and special event)
$7.25 per hour

Responsibilities include greeting visitors, answering the telephone, and clerical tasks such as data entry, assembling notebooks and workshop material. Good communication skills, computer skills, and professional attire are required. Experience with web pages and databases are helpful. Federal Work Study preferred.

Additionally, this person may be trained and required to work a rotational Saturday schedule, which will include running the Science Store. Store responsibilities include opening and closing the store, operating a cash register, assisting customers, restocking and organizing merchandise, and taking planetarium reservations over the telephone (6pm-10:30pm). 

RPSEC Traveling Science - Student Assistant Application

Position: CE-MIST Student Programs Assistant
10-15 hours per week (including occasional weekends and special events)
$7.25 per hour

This individual will assist with traveling science and mathematics kit refurbishment and distribution, answering the phone, making kit reservations, contacting patrons, maintaining the kit distribution center, and other duties as needed.

Additionally, this person may be trained and required to work a rotational Saturday schedule, which will include running the Science Store. Store responsibilities include opening and closing the store, operating a cash register, assisting customers, restocking and organizing merchandise, and taking planetarium reservations over the telephone (6pm-10:30pm). 

RPSEC Planetarium - Student Assistant Application

Position: Planetarium Assistant
10-12 hours per week (including occasional weekends and special event)
$7.25 per hour

Responsibilities include learning to operate the planetarium and present programs, helping to maintain equipment, preparing visuals for shows and for publicity, updating bulletin boards and kiosk computers.  The successful student will have good communication skills, willingness to work with equipment as well as people, and an interest in astronomy/planetarium.  Reliability, enthusiasm, professional attitude and attire are essential. 
                                       
This position WILL BE required to work a rotational Saturday schedule and 2 to 3 afternoons per week, which will include running the Science Store. Store responsibilities include opening and closing the store, operating a cash register, assisting customers, restocking and organizing merchandise, and taking planetarium reservations over the telephone (6pm-10:30pm). 

 

RPSEC Animal Care Application (Volunteer)

Position: Animal Care Volunteer (generally 2:00 – 5:00 PM weekdays; may include some weekends)

Responsibilities include assisting staff with daily feedings, aquarium maintenance, and cage cleanings. Must be willing to handle snakes, turtles, birds, and a small alligator. Must be reliable, punctual, and detail-oriented.
